Beauty and the Bride

These last few months have been very busy with weddings which means lots of glamorous hair and makeup. I'm so grateful for the sense of community Indianapolis provides for me. Having grown up here it seems like I end up crossing paths with people I have known most of my life and it makes work not feel so much like work. I'm grateful for the referrals that I've gotten this past year and it's cool to me to be able to be a part of both my friends and clients big day. xoxo

Beauty Tip: eyeshadow perfection

Shhhh! I'm sharing with you my favorite beauty tip of all time and it will never go out of style. I like to use babylips lip balm in the sheer color (no pigment) as my eyeshadow primer. Start by applying your foundation and base makeup and then lightly apply this product to your eyelids. A little goes a long way so make sure you keep that in mind when applying. Next, apply your eyeshadow and I promise you'll have a look that will last from day to night. You can also lightly dab more on top of your shadow if you need to add a little more color. Another benefit of this product is it contains SPF 20 which is perfect for protecting the super thin skin on our eyelids. Hope you will be able to apply this beauty tip to your makeup routine have fun glamming it up!

Summertime Sass

One of the things I enjoy about doing hair and makeup is working with cool local businesses and meeting new people. Lucky B Boutique is a super cute women's clothing and accessory store located in Broadripple here in Indianapolis. Every so often I partner with them to do hair and makeup for their photoshoots. Recently we ventured to Eagle Creek Park to showcase some airy summertime shots. We started out the day working at the boutique and I did some soft glamorous looks on both of our models. I love the look of tousled curled hair and smoky yet natural eyes which really make the eye color on both of these girls pop.
Makeup touch up's are a must throughout the day so I pack a little makeup tote to go because you never know which palette or lip color you may need.

Ethereal looks are so fun to do for photoshoots -usually the softer and less perfectly put in place the hair, the better. I love incorporating braids, pin curls and volume and (lots and lots of backcombing) into my hairstyles.
I love the way the sunlight captures the makeup in these photos. Pastels on pale blonde hair can be so much fun and perfect for Spring and Summer daytime looks.

My theory on updo's is usually the less organized or polished the better -pay more attention to fullness and creating symmetry and not so much on making everything so smooth. Perfect for Indiana humidity mixed with the perfect maxi and a fun lip color.

Here we were going for big and wild to coordinate with her tribal maxi....you know what they say, "The higher the hair the closer to heaven"
